Gurgaon, July 29, 2009: GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited (GSKCH) today declared its financial results for quarter ended June 30, 2009.
Compared with same period last year, the company’s sales shot up by 24 % to Rs. 468.72 Crores, PBT amounted to Rs. 85.85 Crores, representing a growth of 24 % while PAT stood at Rs. 55.19 Crores; a healthy growth of 20 %.
“There has been impressive sales growth in the second quarter of 2009”, said Zubair Ahmed, Managing Director, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd. Mr. Ahmed added that “This together with new initiatives and improved efficiency has greatly enhanced our performance. We have to accelerate our cost containment programme to enable us to retain our leadership in a most challenging environment.”
The quarter saw launch of two new products viz. Horlicks Chilldood, a ready to drink cold beverage and Junior Horlicks toddler biscuits and the initial response to both the products has been very encouraging.
GSKCH’s flagship brand, Horlicks, once again outperformed its own milestone by moving to the 6th position in the Brand Equity Most Trusted Brands Survey 2009 and has been recognized as the number 1 hot beverage brand.
